Nicky Wu took on a temporary role as a “fruit peeler” at a zoo, only for Doudou the monkey to step on his head!

Wu visited Shanghai Wild Animal Park on 7 November to peel green grapes for Doudou, a spider monkey with an online following. But the little creature did more than enjoy the service: it also rested a foot on Wu’s head, drawing laughter from onlookers. Footage of the encounter has also circulated online.

Dressed in a red sweatshirt, Wu kept his head down as he carefully peeled grapes for Doudou, saying, “Doudou, I’ve peeled it.” The monkey lay comfortably on his shoulder before climbing onto a rope, at one point planting a foot on his head. A staff member promptly stepped forward and gently pulled it away.

Faced with this rather demanding “customer”, Wu sighed with a smile, saying, “It has such a good life. It’s living so well.”

Doudou is quite particular about its green grapes, refusing to eat them unless they have been peeled and handed over.

Wu’s patient service was rewarded with a foot on his head, prompting amused netizens to joke that he had not so much visited the zoo as become the celebrity monkey’s “dedicated fruit peeler”. They described the interaction as “both adorable and hilarious”.

That one step turned an ordinary zoo encounter into an online talking point. The question is, will Wu still be willing to peel grapes the next time he meets Doudou?
