What is “The Glory of Singa”?
Section 1: General Information
Q1 What is “The Glory of Singa”?
A1 “The Glory of Singa” is an online quiz competition launched by Lianhe Zaobao. Players represent their community district to compete against each other, earning Crystals for themselves and their community while testing their knowledge on Singapore food, places, history and culture. Top players from each season will be invited to an offline Grand Final in August.
Q2 When does the game season start, and can I join at any time?
A2 The online portion consists of three seasons:
· Season 1: 25 April – 28 May 2026
· Season 2: 1 June – 28 June 2026
· Season 3: 1 July – 28 July 2026
Dates between seasons are warm-up periods. From August 2026, the online game ends and the offline Grand Final begin.
Q3 Who can participate？
A3 All are eligible. Employees of SPH Media, partners, sponsors, and their immediate family members are excluded.
Q4 Where can I play the game?
A4 You can play via the Zaobao app (iOS / Android) or the Zaobao PC website. In the app, your SPH Media login is verified automatically. If not logged in, you will enter Guest Mode.
Q5 How do I switch from Guest Mode to the official game?
A5 Tap the “Log In” button on the page and complete your Zaobao account login. Guest Mode does not allow you to save your progress nor accumulate crystals and points.
Section 2: Registration & Community
Q6 How do I register for the game?
A6 Log in with your Zaobao account, enter a profile name, and select your community district to complete registration.
Q7 What are the rules for profile names?
A7 Profile names must be 2–10 Chinese characters, English letters, or digits. Special characters and spaces are not allowed, and names must be unique. The system will auto-generate an available name (3 letters + 5 digits) by default.
Q8 Can I change my district after selecting it?
A8 Your district is permanently bound once selected and cannot be changed for the duration of the contest. If you are unsure of your community district, use the postal code lookup feature.
Section 3: Quiz Rules
Q10 How many questions are in each session? What is the time limit?
A10 Each quiz session has 5 questions with a total time limit of 3 minutes.
Q11 How many Crystals do I earn for each correct answer?
A11 You earn 10 Crystals for each correct answer.
Q12 Is there a speed bonus?
A12 Yes
• Submit within 1 minute: earn an extra +20% Crystals for the session
• Submit within 2 minutes: earn an extra +10% Crystals for the session
Q13 What happens if time runs out?
A13 When the 3-minute answering time expires, only questions already answered are scored. Unanswered questions receive no points.
Q14 Will incorrectly answered questions appear again?
A14 Yes. Incorrectly answered questions are returned to your question pool for future sessions. Correctly answered questions will not reappear.
Q15 What question types are supported?
A15 Single-answer and multiple-answers questions are supported. Questions and options may include text or images. Each question has up to 4 options.
Section 4: Power-Up System
Q16 What power-up tools are available in the game?
A16 Three power-ups are available:
• 50/50 (Help Me Win): eliminates 2 incorrect options (only available when there are 3+ wrong options)
• Time Out (Time Freeze): pauses the current question timer for 15 seconds
• Swap (Swap Card): replaces the current question before answering
Q17 How many times can I use a power-up per session?
A17 Each power-up can only be used once per quiz session. Used power-ups are greyed out for the remainder of the session.
Q18 How do I get power-ups?
A18 Power-ups can be obtained by:
• Completing the daily login task
• Completing the “Answer 25 questions correctly this week” task
• Being successfully referred by another user (entering their referral code)
Q19 Do Zaobao VIP users get double power-ups?
A19 Yes. VIP users receive double the number of random power-ups in the following situations:
• Daily login reward
• Weekly correct-answer task reward
• Successful referral reward (as the invitee)
Section 5: Crystals & Points
Q20 What is the difference between Crystals and Points?
A20 Crystals: used solely for rankings, earned only through quiz gameplay, non-transferable, and archived to the Hall of Glory at season end.
Points: redeemable for specially curated prizes in the Zaobao Points Rewards Store, earned via tasks and leaderboard rewards, and remain valid after the season per the Points Store rules.
Q21 Do Crystals have cash value?
A21 No. Crystals cannot be exchanged for cash, are not transferable between players, and remain the property of SPH. They exist solely as a ranking metric.
Section 6: Task Centre
Q22 What are the daily tasks?
A22 Daily Tasks include:
• Daily login: 10 Points + 1 random power-up
• Answer all 5 questions correctly in a single session today: 50 Points + 1 extra quiz attempt
Q23 When do daily task rewards expire?
A23 Daily task rewards must be claimed on the same day. Unclaimed rewards are forfeited and cannot be retrieved.
Q24 What are the weekly tasks?
A24 Weekly Tasks include:
• Play for 5 consecutive days this week: 50 Points + 1 extra quiz attempt
• Answer 25 questions correctly in total this week: 50 Points + 1 random power-up
Q25 When do weekly task rewards expire?
A25 Weekly task rewards must be claimed within the same week. Unclaimed rewards will be forfeited and cannot be retrieved.
Q26 Can I complete daily/weekly tasks during the pre-season warm-up period?
A26 No. Daily and weekly tasks are only available during the active season. During the pre-season warm-up, task buttons display “Coming Soon”.
Q27 How does the referral task work?
A27 Each user has a unique referral code. Share your code with others → once they logged in and entered your code → binding is confirmed → both parties will then receive rewards.
Q28 What are the referral task rewards?
A28 Referral task rewards:
· Referrer: 100 Points + 1 extra quiz attempt (up to 10 times per season)
· Invitee: 1 random power-up (doubled for VIP users)
Q29 Can I bind more than one referral code?
A29 No. Each user may only bind one (1) referral code from another user for the entire duration of the contest.
Q30 Can referral tasks be completed during the pre-season warm-up?
A30 Yes. Referral tasks can be completed during both the pre-season warm-up and the active season. Referrals made during the warm-up count toward the next season’s limit.
Section 7: Leaderboards & Rewards
Q31 How many types of individual leaderboards are there?
A31 Four types: District Weekly, Overall Weekly, District Seasonal, and Overall Seasonal leaderboards.
Q32 What are the individual leaderboard rewards?
A32 District Weekly: 1st 200pts / 2nd 150pts / 3rd 100pts / 4th–10th 50pts
Overall Server Weekly: 1st 500pts / 2nd 300pts / 3rd 200pts / 4th–10th 100pts / 11th–20th 50pts
District Seasonal: 1st 2,000pts / 2nd 1,500pts / 3rd 1,000pts / 4th–10th 500pts

Q33 Can I receive both district and overall server leaderboard rewards?

Q35 Is there a requirement to claim district leaderboard rewards?
A35 Yes. You must complete at least 1 quiz session during the week/season (regardless of accuracy) to be eligible for district leaderboard rewards.

A36 Weekly leaderboards: close at the end of each 7-day cycle
Seasonal leaderboards: close at the conclusion of each season
Section 8: Offline Grand Final
Q37 When is the offline Grand Final?
A37 August 2026. The exact date and venue will be announced on the game’s end page and in official notices.
Q38 How many spots are there in the Grand Final? How are they allocated?
A38 There are 60 spots in total, with 20 produced per season. Allocated by district total Crystals ranking:
1st district → 6 spots / 2nd → 5 / 3rd → 4 / 4th → 3 / 5th → 2
Q39 How are the finalists determined?
A39 Within each district, players are ranked by their individual cumulative Crystals for the season, from highest to lowest. Spots are awarded in order.
Q40 What if a player already qualified in a previous season?
A40 Players who already qualified in a previous season are automatically skipped, and the spot passes down to the next eligible player in the same district. Spots do not transfer across districts.
Q41 What if there are not enough candidates within a district?
A41 If there are fewer eligible candidates than available spots within a district, the remaining spots are forfeited and will not be transferred to other districts.

Q42 How are ties in Crystals resolved?
A42 Ties are resolved in the following order:
1. Accuracy rate (higher wins)
2. Number of quiz attempts (more wins)
3. Registration date (earlier wins)
Q43 What happens to the spot of a banned user?
A43 A banned user’s spot is passed down to the next eligible player in the same district. A user who voluntarily withdraws retains their spot but must confirm attendance before the Grand Final.
Q44 What are the Grand Final prize amounts?
A44 1st place: SGD $5,000 (1 person)
2nd place: SGD $3,000 (1 person)
3rd place: SGD $1,000 (1 person)
Top 10 (4th–10th): SGD $200 (7 people)
Qualification prize (Top 60): SGD $50 (50 people)

Q45 How is the list of qualified players announced?
A45 After each season ends, results are calculated by the system, reviewed manually, and then publicly announced. See in-game notices for details.
Section 9: Seasons & Map

Q46 How are weekly periods calculated?
A46 Each period runs for 7 consecutive days and is not aligned to the calendar week. For example in May: 1–7 May is Week 1, 8–14 May is Week 2, 15–21 May is Week 3, 22–28 May is Week 4.
Q47 What is the pre-season warm-up period?
A47 The transition dates between seasons. During the warm-up, referral tasks are available, but daily and weekly tasks are not yet open.
Q48 What is the Fog Map?
A48 The Fog Map is a digital map of Singapore divided into three zones corresponding to the three seasons. All five district factions contribute to lighting up the same map — each correct answer illuminates a star and clears a patch of fog.
Section 10: Sharing
Q49 How do I share my quiz results?
A49 After a quiz session, tap “Share Results”. The system generates a personalised poster showing your display name, number of correct answers, Crystals earned, and district ranking. The poster includes a QR code linking directly to the game. There is one themed poster per season, three in total.
Section 11: Other
Q50 Is the game available in both Chinese and English?
A50 Yes. You can switch between Chinese and English at any time using the language toggle button in the top-right corner of the page.
Q51 Can SPH change the rules during the contest?
A51 Yes. SPH reserves the right to modify contest rules, reward values, and terms at any time without prior notice. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of any amended rules.
Q52 What are the consequences of cheating?
A52 SPH reserves the right to revoke all Crystals and Points, disqualify the participant, and report them to the police or relevant authorities. Cheating includes but is not limited to: using automated tools for bulk answering, impersonation, system hacking, exploiting loopholes, or mutual referral code abuse.
Q53 Can leaderboard rewards and task rewards be combined?
A53 Yes. For example, you can receive both the District Seasonal leaderboard reward and the Overall Server Seasonal leaderboard reward simultaneously, and the Points accumulate.
