Between GiantsSEA's Strategic Autonomy in an Era of
Great Power Competition

Lianhe Zaobao, in partnership with Tech in Asia, will present the fifth edition of the Southeast Asia Lecture during the Asia Economic Summit 2026. This year’s lecture will feature Indonesia’s Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, as keynote speaker. He will share insights on Southeast Asia’s strategic autonomy and regional development amid an era of great power competition.

The lecture will focus on three core topics:

One, unpacking the challenges posed by the current geopolitical landscape to ASEAN Centrality;
Two, examining the balance between leveraging global capital and avoiding over-dependencies;
Three, analysing the future trajectory of ASEAN’s consensus-based approach in a fragmented world.

Minister Teuku will also engage in a dialogue with Mr Nam Yunzhou, Lianhe Zaobao Indonesia Correspondent, to discuss ASEAN’s future development and opportunities for regional cooperation.
